Introduction

A safe environment for both learning and working is fundamental to ARTeach We are committed to putting appropriate measures in place to protect the health, safety and welfare of all children, learners and staff. In accordance with Section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, all learners, staff and personnel have a legal duty to take reasonable care to prevent accidents or injury to themselves and to others.

Objectives

To support and maintain high standards of health and safety, ARTeach aims to:

  • Provide and maintain suitable and safe equipment and working environments, including safe access and exit routes, ensuring that they do not present unnecessary risks to health or safety.

  • Prevent accidents, work-related ill health and other safety risks arising from activities by identifying hazards, assessing associated risks and putting appropriate control measures in place.

  • Maintain and regularly implement appropriate emergency and evacuation procedures to be followed in the event of a serious incident or emergency.

  • Safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all individuals, including children and vulnerable learners, through a structured and effective approach to risk management.

  • Ensure that this policy is readily available to relevant individuals. A copy will be provided as part of the course booking process and will be accessible alongside the relevant terms and conditions through our online booking system.

  • Communicate with learners, staff and relevant third parties, providing appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision where necessary to maintain health and safety.

  • Ensure that personnel responsible for identifying and managing potentially hazardous situations or environments have the appropriate knowledge, training and qualifications to carry out these responsibilities effectively.

  • Comply with all applicable statutory health and safety requirements relating to the welfare and safety of learners, staff and relevant third parties.

Risk Assessment Procedures

ARTeach will ensure that appropriate and sufficient control measures are established to minimise identified risks associated with the delivery of courses, programmes and activities.

Any personnel responsible for completing risk assessments will receive suitable training or guidance and will be made aware of their responsibilities before undertaking this role.

Completed risk assessments will be made available to relevant members of staff. All personnel involved in delivering activities are expected to follow the control measures and procedures identified within the relevant risk assessment and to ensure that any required actions are completed and recorded.

Where a tutor, assessor or other member of personnel identifies a new risk that has not previously been considered, or where no suitable risk assessment exists for an activity, an appropriate risk assessment must be completed before proceeding where reasonably practicable.

Fire Safety

All staff working at each site will be made aware of the relevant fire safety procedures and emergency arrangements for that location, including the designated evacuation or assembly point.

This information will also be communicated to all children and learners attending the site, as appropriate.

First Aid Procedure

Please contact our office to confirm the names and availability of designated first aiders.

For specific camp or activity-based programmes, ARTeach.co.uk will provide a first aid kit which will be taken to the premises or location where the activity is being delivered.

Accident and injury forms will be available at the premises where ARTeach.co.uk activities take place. Where an accident or injury occurs, one copy of the completed form will be provided to the parent or carer, with a further copy retained for ARTeach.co.uk's internal records.

Accident Reporting

In the event of an accident or injury, the immediate priority is to ensure that the individual receives appropriate care and assistance.

Once this has been addressed, the practitioner or member of personnel responsible for the activity must notify the nominated person or manager on duty, as well as the parent or guardian where appropriate.

The practitioner or responsible member of personnel must also complete the relevant accident and injury form, ensuring that the details of the incident and any action taken are accurately recorded.

The completed form should be forwarded to the appropriate person as soon as possible, using the quickest available method, so that the incident can be formally recorded and any necessary follow-up actions identified.

Sincerely,
Arteach
