Last Week, Anti-Bullying Alliance announced the theme of this year’s anti-bullying week which is ‘United Against Bullying’. Anti-Bullying Week will happen from Monday 16th - Friday 20th November and will start with Odd Socks Day to mark the first day of Anti- Bullying Week.

2020 has been, and still is, a tremendously difficult year for many of us, but it’s proven a significant thing: when we come together for common goal, we can achieve everything. From volunteering in order to make sure that everyone has food and our NHS heroes that sacrificed their lives in order to save us, to those that endured the lockdown alone, we are coming out of this stronger, kinder, and ready for whatever comes next.
The horrid murder of George Floyd and the subsequent Black Lives Matters protests have put a spotlight on the systemic racism that continues to exists in our society. People from all over the world have joined forces to say ‘no more’. ‘There is a distinct lack of research about racist bullying amongst children and young people but we have heard time and time again from black young people that they have experienced racist bullying in school. We must be more direct in our approach to tackling this issue ourselves.’ said ABA in their blog ‘Do we need any Anti-Bullying Week this year?’ Last years ABA’s poll results showed that levels of bullying still remain high, with one child in every classroom experiencing bullying everyday. Once again, we need to come together and tackle this issue once and for all! ABA committed doing more to address racist bullying amongst children and young people and We being vocal that Black Lives Matter. More than any other time, we are very passionate about this year’s Anti-Bullting week, and we will be taking part with our special anti-bullying workshop. In our carefully made workshop students will: use a range of activities that can be used as framework for exploring bullying issues engage and empathise with characters and situations from a known story through drama use vocal and physical expressions to communicate emotions and behaviour communicate ideas through performance work together in groups to share ideas present the viewpoints of different characters through dialogue, role-play and writing identify and discuss the qualities of other United against bullying we stand! See you soon! Danay Bouzala, Director of Drama
