professional artists bringing inspiration and creativity from the studio to the classroom
Banners and large scale textile workshops
A specialism of the artist, the creation of fabulous large scale textile banners, wall hangings and window panels to enhance a foyer, entrance hallway or area requiring brightening up. Themes and projects can be individually discussed and tailor made to specific needs, ages and abilities. Workshops begin with drawings created by the children which are then transferred onto fabric and painted using a combination of exciting techniques and effects or utilising 3D textured materials and/or new photographic effects developed by the artist.

Silk Painting workshops
A wonderful medium to explore with children of all ages from nursery to year 6 and above. Children can work on individual pieces or alternatively work in groups to create a large artwork i.e. panel, banner or window piece for a colourful permanent piece of artwork for their school. All specialist equipment is provided by the artist including child safe inks, frames and brushes. A thorough demonstration at the start of the workshop usually inspires both children and adults alike as to the possibilities of this fascinating medium loved by children and adults.

Textile Collage workshop combining embroidery using scrap and recycled materials
Children can work collaboratively or individually exploring painting and drawing techniques on fabric using a variety of methods and materials. They will develop skills in sewing and fabric application learning about shape, line and colour and most importantly having fun in the process. As part of the project, children will be encouraged to collect scrap materials and recycled objects to incorporate into their pieces. If this workshop is chosen as a residency, the artwork created can be machine embroidered onto a background by the artist, helped with hand sewing by children and/or parent helpers/members of the community to create a celebratory piece.

Mosaic Projects
This project is suitable for either an indoor or outdoor space and is great for utilising broken china and tiles that would otherwise be thrown away. A good way of recycling to create an inexpensive yet substantial / impressive artwork at a fraction of the cost of using specialist often expensive tiles. Starting from drawings, children are introduced to the ancient art form of mosaic and can work individually on their own creations or as part of a team on a group piece working on marine ply boards, panels or slates for the garden. Cut out shapes can be jigged by the artist in advance of the workshop and advice given on design, patterns, shapes, colours and other interesting objects to add.

Weaving Workshops
Suitable for children from year 1 to year 6. Children learn the textile art of weaving on either an individual or a giant scale using a variety of textures i.e. shiny, tactile, soft, scaly etc. to create a fabulous background. By exploring a selection of exciting recycled materials children are encouraged to use their own imagination in creating a group/individual piece(s) by each contributing their own individual ideas and shapes.
