professional artists bringing inspiration and creativity from the studio to the classroom
Textile Artist Jacqueline Smith offers textile workshops developing projects with adults and children of all ages and abilities in a variety of media.
Workshops cover a range of decorative applications and surface qualities including techniques such as silk painting, batik, felt-making, papermaking, weaving, printing, mixed media and embroidery. Many of the projects include using scrap textiles, paper and recycled materials. All workshops are geared at having fun and exploring simple techniques and methods appropriate to age and ability.
All projects can be linked to a variety of exciting themes and inspirational starting points and can link to subjects across the national curriculum.
Large scale banners, wall-hangings, window panels and foyer pieces are a speciality, working with groups of children taking ideas from the design/drawing stage through to the finished textile artwork. Please contact the artist for more details if you would like to discuss artwork tailored to your school’s needs.
