Hidden Haworth Project
The Hidden Haworth was devised by the curator Jenifer Rennie and artist Julie Miles to entice young people into the Haworth Art Gallery over the summer period and to celebrate the building of the house at Hollins Hill now the Haworth Art Gallery in its centenary year.
The project involved young people of Hyndburn exploring behind the scenes of the Art Gallery and looking in places that the public will never see. The young people explored from the roof terrace, attic and down through the rooms housing some of the rarely seen collection of artworks owned by the people of Hyndburn. Drawings and ceramic sculptures were created looking at the grotesques from the roof terrace to the stained glass windows and exhibited over the August Bank holiday throughout the gallery.
The Hidden Haworth project at the Haworth Art Gallery, Accrington has been funded by Hyndburns Year of Culture.
We have been promising to do this for a while and better late than never but Arteach has expanded the membership by 3 new artists
Arteach member Julie miles has been working with youth groups and the Haworth Art Gallery over the summer to create ceramic sculptures inspired by the house itself.
